What is The Mound House?
Mound House’s mission is to preserve, share, and interpret 2,000 years of cultural and environmental history of Fort Myers Beach and Southwest Florida.
Museum
Our six exhibit museum details nearly 2,000 years of cultural and environmental history of our site. Home to many different cultures including Calusa, Seminole, Latino, and Anglo-Americans; our site reflects the many layers of Southwest Florida's history!
Kayak Tours
Experience the natural beauty of Estero Bay while exploring tidal creeks and winding mangrove tunnels like only a kayaker can. We often see a wide variety of wading birds that you can only see in Florida, and sometimes dolphins and manatees!
Guided Tours
No matter your group size, our tour guides will lead you through an educational and entertaining experience that you’ll never forget. With hands-on replica artifacts and atlatl throwing, our tours are great for all ages.
Archaelogical Site
Our nearly 3-acre property is an archaeological site with nearly 2,000 years of continuous occupation. The shell mound that makes up the site was purposely and skillfully constructed by the native Calusa by which they would build their home.
Kayak Tours
Our popular kayak tours are the best way to experience the wild beauty of Estero Bay. Our guides will take you through a maze of mangroves where we have seen herons, roseate spoonbills, dolphins, and manatees. Guides will also point out archaeological sites of the Calusa people and discuss how this native people flourished in Southwest Florida.
